I. Chinese Language Program Introduction
China Three Gorges University (CTGU), member of the United Nations Academy Impact (UNAI), provides Chinese Language programs for all the students who are interested in learning Chinese Language and Chinese Culture on one-semester or one-year basis.
II. Scholarship Coverage & Standard
2.1 This Chinese Language Program will be sponsored by Hubei Provincial Scholarship, which supportstuition feeONLY.
2.2 Scholarship standard is as below：
5,000 RMB/One Semester and 10,000 RMB /One Year
III. Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must:
3.1 be a citizen of a country other than China, friendly to China and in good health both mentally and physically; Note: For those Chinese people who immigrated to other countries as foreign students to apply for studying in China, the applicants should hold the valid foreign passport or nationality certificate more than 4 years. In the latest 4 years (up to April 30 of the enrollment year), the applicants lived in a foreign country more than 2 years (the actual living abroad for more than 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, subject to the entry and exit stamps).
3.2 be an academically excellent holder of a Higher Secondary Certificate or above between the age of 18 and 40 generally;
3.3 provide the Certificate for the Experience of Studying in China from previous school or university if he/she who has studied in China. Sample of the Certificate can be downloaded fromhttp://eng.ctgu.edu.cn/DOWNLOADS.htm
IV. Academic Calendar
4.1 Spring Semester 2024: February 26, 2024-July 5, 2024;
4.2 Fall Semester 2024: September 2, 2024- January 17, 2025.
V.Study Duration
5.1 One semester: 2024: February 26, 2024-July 5, 2024;
5.2 One year: 2024: February 26, 2024- January 17, 2025.
VI. Application & Admission Process
6.1 The applicant shall fill in and submit application at CTGU Online Application System for International Students at:http://lsx.ctgu.edu.cn；
6.2 The Admissions Office shall make a preliminary examination of the applicant's materials. Those documents of the applicant who have passed the preliminary examination shall be sent to the Student Affairs Office and the college for reviewing.
6.3 The Admissions Office will send the electronic materials of the applicants who have passed the review by CTGU to the Department of Education of Hubei Province for a comprehensive review;
6.4 The Admissions Office will issue the E-version of Visa Application for Study in China (JW202)of the applicants who have passed the comprehensive review by the Department of Education of Hubei Province and Hubei Foreign Affairs Office;
6.5 The Admissions Office will send the Admission Notice and inform the applicants to download the E-version of Visa Application for Study in China (JW202) .
VII. Application Documents
7.1 CTGU Application Form for International Students (filled in online);
7.2 A scanned copy of information page of a valid passport;
7.3 Diploma and certificate of highest education (Clear and colorful photocopy of the Official Original Certificate). An applicant who is a current university student shall submit the certificate of expected graduation or student status issued by his/her university. Diploma and Certificate in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
7.4 Complete academic transcripts from the highest degree. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
7.5 Certificate of language proficiency. When applying for a Chinese-taught program, an applicant shall provide a valid HSK score report that meets the program’s language ability requirements. When applying for a program taught in a language other than Chinese, an applicant shall provide a certificate of proficiency in the language as required by the designated university, such as the IELTS or TOEFL test report.
7.6 A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (the original document, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, shall be filled in in English and kept by the applicant). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Medical examination results are valid for only six months;
7.7 A valid Financial Supporter Statement with hand-writing signature of the Financial Supporter and the Bank Statement of your Financial Supporter, sample of the Financial Supporter Statement can be downloaded from: http://eng.ctgu.edu.cn/DOWNLOADS.htm;
7.8 A valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued by the local public security (such as the police station), usually issued within six months prior to the submission date of the application;
7.9 Awarded certificates if there is/are any;
7.10 Accompanying Personnel Information Form to list all the family members who will stay with you in China during your study in CTGU.
VIII. Fees and Application Deadline
8.1Study at CTGU, you are expected to bear the Expenses as below:
a. Tuition fee: 5，000 RMB /semester，10，000 RMB /year
b. Accommodation fee: 4,800/3,600 RMB /year/bed for a room with two beds.
c. Insurance fee: 600/700/800 RMB /year/person.
d. Registration fee: 400 RMB /person.
e. Living expenses average around 1,500 RMB /month/ person.
f. Other prospective expenses around 1,100 RMB such as Health Check/Authentication fee or Residence Permit Application Fee will be charged by the relevant institutions in accordance with their fee specification.
8.2Application Deadline: December 15th, 2023
IX. Others
9.1 This application guide is made in both Chinese and English. If there is any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
9.2 The Admissions Office is responsible for the interpretation of the application guide.
