I.Program Introduction
Established by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), the program aims to give full play to the role of Chinese government scholarships in promoting the construction of "double first-class" universities. The program adopts the principle of "individual application, university recommendation, expert evaluation and selective admission" to select international students with excellent academic background, professional ability and future development potential. China Three Gorges University (CTGU) has the qualification to enroll students for the scholarship program, and can recommend candidates who meet the requirements. The final admission results are subject to the expert review results.

This Scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study. The language courses last one year, whereas the duration of the scholarship for major study conforms to that as required

III. Scholarship Coverage & Criteria
3.1 Scholarship CoverageThe scholarship covers tuition fee, dormitory fee, stipend and comprehensive medical insurance fee.
3.2Criteria
1) Free Tuition fees;
2)Free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy if the students were approved to live outside campus;
3)Stipend:
Master’s students: CNY 3,000 per month;
Doctoral students: CNY 3,500 per month.
4)Comprehensive medical insurance: CNY 800 per person per year;
Ⅳ. Eligibility
4.1. be a citizen of a country other than China, friendly to China and in good health both mentally and physically;
4.2 be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent between the age of 18 and 35 when applying for a Master’s program;
4.3 be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent between the age of 18 and 40 when applying for a doctoral program;
4.4 Have passed HSK (Level 4) when applying for aChinese-taughtprogram(those who have obtained a degree from a Chinese university using Chinese as the teaching language are not required to provide HSK certificates)and their Chinese proficiency should be at the level of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standard (Level 5) upon graduation ;
4.5 IELTS with 6.0 or above or other equivalent language proficiency certificate should be provided when applying for anEnglish-taughtprogram. Applicants who are from English speaking countries or received education more than 3 years in English can exempt from providing the relevant English language proficiency certificates.

Their Chinese proficiency should be at the level of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standard (Level 3) upon graduation
4.6 Applicants who have studied in China before should provide the Certificate for the Experience of Studying in China from previous school or university. Sample of the Certificate can be downloaded from http://eng.ctgu.edu.cn/DOWNLOADS.htm
Ⅴ.Application & Admission Process
5.1 The applicants shall fill in and submit application at CTGU Online Application System for International Students at this linkhttp://lsx.ctgu.edu.cn;
5.2 The admissions office shall make a preliminary examination of the applicant's materials. Those documents of the applicants who have passed the preliminary examination shall be sent to relevant colleges for academic review. Admission office will send a pre-admission notice to those students who have passed the college academic review;
5.3 The applicants shall fill in and submit application at CSC Online Application System for International Students at this linkhttp://studyinchina.csc.edu.cnand upload the pre-admission letter. The Agency number of CTGU University is11075.The Scholarship category isType B;
5.4 CTGU shall submit the recommended candidates list and their application documents to CSC bythe end of March;
5.5 The CSC will organize designated universities and experts concerned to examine applicants’ eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates;
5.6 The CSC will notify the admission results to CTGU that will subsequently have the applicant informed. Then CTGU will send the Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW201).
Ⅵ.Application Documents
6.1 CTGU Application Form for International Students /Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in online);
6.2 A scanned copy of the Passport Information Page. An applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of his/her passport that will not expire on or before March31, 2024. Renew the passport if the requirement is not met. An applicant who fails to apply for a passport due to objective reasons may submit valid documentation or documentary evidence that carries information about the full English name, sex, nationality and date of birth of the applicant upon the approval of the application receiving agency;
6.3 Diploma and certificate of highest education (both original ¬arized photocopy). An applicant who is a current university student shall submit the certificate of expected graduation or student status issued by his/her university;
6.4 Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
6.5 Certificate of language proficiency. When applying for a Chinese-taught program, an applicant shall provide a valid HSK score report that meets the program’s language ability requirements. When applying for a program taught in a language other than Chinese, an applicant shall provide a certificate of proficiency in the language as required by the designated university, such as the IELTS or TOEFL test report;
6.6 Pre-Admission Notice. (As one of the documents for scholarship qualification evaluation, the pre-admission Notice should be uploaded in the CSC Online Application System for International Students system);
6.7 A study or research plan written in Chinese or in English (no less than 1000 words/characters for postgraduates);
6.8 Recommendation letters. Two recommendation letters in Chinese or in English from professors or associate professors;
6.9 Personal academic achievements (list of graduation thesis, published papers, major research projects participated, etc.);
6.10 Awarded certificates if there is/are;
6.11 A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (the original document, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, shall be filled in in English and kept by the applicant). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Medical examination results are valid for only six months;
6.12 An applicant shall submit a valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued by the local public security (such as the police station), usually issued within six months prior to the submission date of the application.

Ⅷ.Points for Attention
Chinese Government Scholarship students are not allowed to enjoy other scholarships (excluding lump-sum rewards) established by the Chinese government at all levels and CTGU at the same time. Once found out, their Chinese government scholarship eligibility will be cancelled and the Chinese government scholarship already received will be returned. Those who deliberately conceal their financial support will not be allowed to apply for Chinese government scholarships within three years, in addition to being disqualified.
Ⅸ.Others
9.1 This application guide is made in both Chinese and English. If there is any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
