The young man whose originalname is Md Sahidul Islamisfrom Bangladesh and now is a junioratCollege of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, CTGU, majoring in hydropower engineering.“Wang Bo”is the Chinese name he made for himself
Wang Bo has stayed in Yichang for more than two years, and now he is much more familiar with the city. He said that Yichang is like his hometown and he feels the warm-heartedness of the peoplehere. Every Autumn Festival, his classmates send moon cakes and apples to him and invite him to celebrate the festival together. One morning last spring, he lost his wallet with3,000 RMBandhis ID card and bank cards, “Fortunately, astudent returned it back to me with all my personal belongings.’’ He said in relief.
When talking about Yichang, Wang Bo praised that “Yichang is such a beautiful city and I am so lucky to livehere.” He has visited many places of Yichangsuch as the Three Gorges Dam, the Three Gorges Tribe Scenic Spot, the Qingjiang Gallery, the Three Gorges Grand Waterfalls, the Chexi Folk Custom Tour Site and the Three Visitor’s Cave. “Yichang is a city with abundant tourism resources and it is becoming more and more appealing for people have made more efforts to protect the scenery.”
Wang Bo lived in a town next to a river when he was young, so heloves rivers very much. He was extremely excited when talking about his first drafting experience in the Chaotianhou Drafting Resort in 2016: “Drafting is so exciting and funny. The water isclean and not very deep. WhenI fell into the river, I returned to the canoeing and went on with it. And as a fan of swimming, I couldn’t help swimming in the river.” Since then, he has been crazy about drafting and hewentrafting intheChaotianhouDrafting Resort of Xingshan County every summer.
Wang Bois curious about Yichang, and he also goes out of the campus to experience the local customs. He introducedhis trip to the countryside in Yiling District last year, “I have learnt to pick the tender shoots when picking the tea and the green tea gardens were awesome!” He also experienced how to make tea,enjoyed the tea performance and tasted local food. He said proudly: “I have learnt to speak the word ‘friend’ in Chinese as well.”
Wang Bo also lovesmusic, and he saw a classical Chinese zitherone day, then he asked his Chinese friend to teach him how to play it and practiced it every weekend, attracted by the particular beauty of classicalmusic. He exclaimed:“Traditional Chinese music instruments are reallymagical!”
Wang Bo exclaimed thatgreat changes have taken place in Yichang in the past two years,many high building have erectedin the downtown area, and the city is becoming morebeautiful. Also the traffic conditions are much betterthan before. “I am so happy to witness these changes, for example,the newly built Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge and the Second Xiling Expressway.’’ He is looking forward to his future life in the homeland after his graduation:“I want to go back to Bangladesh with my learnings ofadvanced hydropowertechnologyand tell the stories of Yichang to people in my hometown.”
