My foreigner teachers
2015-11-09 08:57:51

Before I went to the university, I never have had a foreigner teacher, although English is been taught from junior middle school. For many times, I have heard my cousin told about his foreigner teachers. Every time his face lightened with delight and expectation. That made me curious. From the TV, I have seen many foreigners, but it could not give me a detailed understanding. Since coming to the China Three Gorges University and I major in English, I have foreigner teachers every term and then I can have a close communication with the people that I want to know.

My first foreigner teacher is from America. His name is Bryan. When I first met him, he is not my teacher and I just followed my roommate to attend her class. He is what I think a foreigner should be ------ white, blond hair and humorous. The atmosphere of his class is exciting and carefree. Each class he will make many mini—games to arouse our interest in what he will teach. Unlike other foreigner, he can speak a little Chinese, maybe it is because he marries a Chinese girl. At first, he was not too strict with us, and then became more and more serious. On Thursday afternoon, there is a association activity called The English Village. It aims at helping students to improve their spoken English. Bryan is one of the teachers that join it. His humorous behavior makes a deep impression on the students and they like to talk to him. However he came back to his country and I cannot see him again.

Bloomer is another teacher. He taught culture class. By comparing cultures between China and America, we had deep understanding of American culture. There is no doubt that we do have something to learn from America, such as the facilities in its hospitals. He gave some pictures about the hospitals to us. Their hospital is so clean that you can really regard the floor tiles as the mirror. I do not mean I dislike China. What I say is just from the point of culture. If one indeed has something for us to use for reference, then we should take it modestly. At the beginning of the class, he would tell us a sentence that he picked up from the Bible and clarified. In his first class, he said that he hoped every one of us should become a good person. He wants us to help persons that in trouble. I remembered that at the end of the semester, he did not give us final exam, instead he gave us some money to do something good for others and reported what we had learned from the activity in front of the class. I think this is more meaningful than tests. Bloomer fulfills his faith through his actions no matter how others think about him. We all can learn from it.

The third foreigner teacher comes from a beautiful island. Not like the above two teachers, she is more strict with us. In class she would like us to follow her instructions and finish the homework in time. She treats us as adults. Strict as she is in class, she is easygoing after class. Many students love to go out with her and do talk with her. From this aspect, she is our sister. You can pour out your annoyance to her and she will give you some useful advices.

From these three teachers, I think, I know a little about them. They are friendly and have a fine personality.
