My teacher, My friend
2015-11-09 08:58:15 中国宜昌网

When I was in middle school, I met my first foreign teacher who has a very easy-remembered name, Mary. At the beginning, all the students are interested in her just because of her blue eyes and blond hair which look quite different from us. Our whole class was divided into two small classes to take the oral English class so that we can have more opportunity to communicate with the teacher. I feel very lucky to have her and it is still an unforgettable memory every time I recall my junior high school.

Students usually love teachers for two reasons: firstly, the teacher teaches so excellent that students can learn a lot from him or her. Secondly, the teacher attaches great importance to the student not just considering the grades. As far as I am concerned, I love Mary for the second reason.

My middle school is a demanding school and most teachers there is prominent. But all the Chinese teachers there can’t treat every student equally, which is understandable. However, in Mary’s eyes, every student is her friend. One time, we were practicing English conversations in class but I have no partner. It shocked me that she came to my assistance. My English was so poor that I felt so embarrassed to speak to her at that time. As my face turned red, she just smiled and continued talking to me gently. Then I realized that she was more than a teacher to me. I used to think teachers occupy a demanding position, but her attitude completely changed my mind. She considered me as an adult, a really equal person to her.

After that, no other teachers I met were like her until I came to the university. Almost two yeas since I came to the china three gorges university as an English major student in order to know more about foreign cultures and broaden my views. I deeply feel that collage teachers especially those in our foreign languages collage are more democratic and open-minded. There is no doubt that I love china and our national cultures which I think can never be replaced. But Chinese culture is not everything. For teachers, knowing more foreign educational idea makes them a better teacher.

If I love Mary just because of her kindness to me, Mr. Bloomer is another thing. Sid bloomer, one of my foreign teachers, is distinctive among those foreigners. To be honest, I haven’t learnt much professional skills from him. But two things that he taught me I keep in mind. First, I am a good person. Second, I can think for myself.

Have you met a teacher that he gave you money and ask you to use money to help other people? Mr. Bloomer is. People usually say there is no such thing as free lunches in the world. I still remembered people’s different reactions when they accept our free gifts. They were all surprised and can hardly believe our kindness. But I know our deed must affect them which mean our Yichang people felt the warm coming from foreigners. It was the first time I had done that kind of things, so he also changed me. All his actions are out of a friend to Chinese.

He still came to our class visiting us even though he wasn’t our teacher any more. When I met him in the street, we just greet like friends. It is wonderful that my teacher is my friend.
