A wonderful experience
2015-11-09 09:00:55

It was a Thursday afternoon when my friends and I went to the Foreign Language Village. I loved this wonderful mass organization for the reason that it can give me a good opportunity to practice my speaking and oral English with the help of our foreign teachers.

All the things in the Foreign Language Village that grasped my eyes were the various furnishing. Later, we stepped into a special room used for making delicious food where our foreign teacher Bryan was baking all shapes of cookies. He was really hospitable and invited all of us to have a try. So tasteful were they that I loved their flavor very much. Bryan had a good sense of humor which made him popular with all of us. He shared with us the stories of his family and the interesting stories he had come across since he went to China. These stories were so fascinating that we were abandoned in them immediately, almost forgetting the time. We chatted with him in a happy atmosphere during which we had harvested a lot. I asked him what he liked about China and he told me that it was the amazing sceneries as well as the friendly people that attracted him most. I thought our conversation had definitely helped me a lot in speaking.

We had got to know before that he had a wife from Yi Chang, which contributed to his progress in Chinese greatly. And owing to this, we often joked with him in Chinese in class. Bryan was a really smart guy, for he learned very quickly, so we were all willing to teach him whenever he had problems understanding Chinese. Now he has gone back to America, leaving a great impression on us all the time.

Finally, we arrived in the KTV room where we encountered our oral English teacher Pamela. She was singing a beautiful song and encouraged us to sing and dance together. We heard many beautiful symphonies and enjoyed ourselves very much. My friend Xiao Xi was always fond of English songs and she got acquainted with these songs very quickly. As soon as the music stopped, Pamela started to have small chat with us. Everyone went to her to ask some questions, most of which concerned her country, her hobbies and so on. We squeezed across the crowed and eventually had the chance to talk with her. When she was telling us some really funny stories, Xiao Xi couldn’t help letting out a giggling, which amused all the people around us. Pamela was surprised by her, too and then giggled for a while before we started our small talk again. I loved to hear a foreigner describing to me what his or her country is like, especially about the country’s culture that was different from mine. Indeed, Pamela was very outgoing and always seemed energetic. Sometimes I would wonder whether people in western countries were all as active and extroverted as her, while we Chinese girls seemed to be shy and introverted. We can acquire plenty of good character from these foreign people, which was a significant reason why I enjoyed going to the Foreign Language Village so much.

After the wonderful chatting with Pamela, we went out, as more and more students were crowding in. What a coincidence that another one of our foreign teachers –Pablo happened to be outside the room. He looked like a serious person, but you could find him friendly had you ever communicated with him. He smiled at us and gently waved his hands to us. We walked towards him and greeted him. Actually, he was Spanish and English was his second language, so I was a bit curious how he could learn English so well. When inquired about whether he would teach us Spanish as the second foreign language, he said it was not his part of teaching, but he added that he was really pleased to help us with Spanish.

This experience in the Foreign Language village was really wonderful. Not only did we have fun, but also we seized the chance to broaden our horizons. There is no doubt that It equipped us with both knowledge and capacity. The sunning shining, the birds singing all the way, we went back in a light mood, feeling the sky rather blue and clear.
