My name is Wangyuting,a junior maioring in English at China Three Gorges University.Living in Yicang for three years,I have various feelings and memories worth sharing.From my perspective,Yichang is an ancient and vibrant city,comfortable for living,charming for traveling,and pleasant for working.

　　Yichang city, located in the west of Hubei province and by the riverside of Yangtze River,is regarded as illuminating pearl of Xiling gorges.Its beauty has been vividly described by a poet as “A place interconnecting Shu and Chu, and a magic land blessed by nature with unrivalled scenery”.And itis a pleasant city with beautiful lakes,many parks and modern malls which are worth visiting.The famous business street is called Jiefangroad,where yon can enjoy the local special food and explore the lively nightlife.

　　I love this city.She is very beautiful and lovely.Everywhere you can see the flowers and trees. Belongingto subtropical monsoon area,it isabundantinrain.Wheneveryou walk in the street,you can feel the gentle wind touching your face.

　　Yichang, entitled by emperor Yongzheng in Qing dynasty, means it is a potential place to be developed prosperously. Besides the name of Yichang, this city also gets other renowed nicknames according its terrain and geographic position,such as YiLing, XiaZhou,etc.Despite its size and modern look, Yichang city not only has long history but also its folk customsand various cultures will diffuse ever-lasting mellow fragrance. As an important place for the development of Chu and Ba Cultures, it has nurtured many outstanding people, like Qu Yuan, a celebrity in world culture and history, Wang Zhaojun, a bride bringing peace for the Hans and Huns by political marriage, and Yang Shoujing, a world-known scholar. It was also a gathering place for famous men of letter in the past dynasties such as Li Bai, Du Fu, BaiJuyi, OuYangxiu, Su Shi and Lu You etc who were moved by the landscape of Xiling while visiting historical sites, and wrote numerous poems and essays upon them, enriching precious cultural wealth for Yichang.

　　Nowadays, Yichang is becoming one of eight largest ports along Yangtze river. Since the Yangtze golden steam for navigation flows 237 km along the city region, it is very convenient to travel Yichang by ship. Yichang also has a well developed transportation system ,besides navigation, the railway of Yichang to wanzhou and highway,together with the aviation promote Yichang as important transportation hub in central of china.
