Seven kilometers away from the downtown of Yichang, Three Visitors’ cave lies in the cliff of the Xiling Gorge. It is one of the key cultural relic’s protection units of Hubei Province.
It is said that in 819, Bai Juyi, Bai Xingjian and Yuan Zhen, the three famous poets in the Tang Dynasty visited the Cave together and wrote respectively a poem on the wall of the Cave, which had been called “the former three visitors”. From then on, the Cave is named as "the Three Visitors' Cave". Later in the Song Dynasty, the famous literature Su Xun and his sons--Su Shi (Su Dongpo) and Su Zhe also paid a visit to the Cave and carved their poems on the stone wall too, which was “the later three visitors”. These famous travelers make this cave known to the world.
The Cave is not only legendary, but also treasurable for its cultural value of the more than 40 pieces of inscriptions of all styles of calligraphy and painting works.

1、Take the No.34 Bus from Yiling Square to Hongguang Road stop through 8 stops, and then transfer the No.10 Bus from Honggang Road stop to the Three Visitors’ Cave stop through 6 stops.
2、Drive along the Dongshan Avenue and Yemingzhu Road for 24 kilometers.
