  An introduction to the scenic spot

  Leizu Memorial Hall, also known as Xiling Mountain Temple, has an altitude of 108 meters. Covering an area of 1,000 square meters, it wasbuilt to commemorate Leizu, the wife of Yellow Emperor, and was rebuilt in Xiling Mountain in 1993.Being regarded as the “SilkwormGoddess”bythe silkworm raisers,Leizu is the wife of Yellow Emperor and the earliest first lady in China.

  The fifteenth day of the third lunar month is Leizu’s birthday. Every year the“Silkworm Festival” is held in Leizu MemorialHall, which is an unprecedentedly grand occasion. Leizu taughtpeople sericultureandsilk reeling, thus being called “SilkwormGoddess”. The ancient Xiling Mountain used to be a sacred place to worship her. However, theLeizu Templeon the XilingMountain was destroyed by Japanese invadersin June 1940. In February 1993, itwas rebuilt,with aconstruction area of 1,217.27 square meters, a total height of 26.53 meters.The Temple hasfour floors, with multiple layers of eaves and 24 sets of wind bellshanging upon their corners. When the breeze comes, the flutteringbells will give off clear and beautiful sound, piercing through the sky.
