Situated at south-central part of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County and on the mysterious 30 degrees north latitude, Tianmen Gorge Scenic Spot belongs to Wuling Mountain extension in the east section. It is 20 kilometers away from Wufeng County and 116 kilometers away from Zhangjiajie, Hunan. Covering 12.9 square kilometers, this scenic spot is the core of Houhe National Nature Reserve, which is made up with seven areas, namely, the Canyon Stone Sightseeing Area, Comprehensive Service Area, Scientific Research Area, Leisure Experience Area, Animal Rehabilitation Area, Holiday Health Maintenance Area and Baodaoling Sightseeing Area, etc. With a net span of 118 meters, Xianyuan Suspension Bridge inside Baodaoling is 148 meters in length and 98 meters above the bottom of the valley, only next to Yalong Bay Suspension Bridge in Hainan in terms of span. The average temperature here is far below other areas in the same latitude. When in summer, the content of the negative oxygen ions reaches as high as 12,800 per cubic centimeter, which is ten times of the negative oxygen ion standard of fresh air stipulated by World Health Organization. The unique biodiversity, enigmatic primitive atmosphere, beautiful idyllic scenery, quaint and massive ethnic customs as well as the clean and pure Tujia cuisine build a rare land of promise with pure Houhe and pure nature. There are so many famous landscapes such as rare and precious tree species communities, sycopsis sinensis communities and Chinese yew that the scenic spot can be said to be a galaxy of relict plants in the geographical sphere of 30 degrees north latitude. And the rare and precious tree species communities there are praised to be "only in the country, rare in the world".
