The Machi Ancient Village Scenic Spot is the Provincial Patriotic Education Base, which is located in Duzhenwan Town, Changyang Tujia Autonomous County. Machi Ancient village is home to the historic site of the Soviet government and the birthplace of the first Army of Chinese Ethnic Minorities (The 6th Army of Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army). During the Agrarian Revolution, Marshal He Long led the revolution in Machi and established a revolutionary base in the border area of Hunan and Hubei Provinces. The existing revolutionary site includes a private house where He Long had lived, Changyang County Committee of the Communist Party of China, Changyang County Soviet Government, Changyang County Military Commission, Changyang County Women’s Association, Changyang County Guard and so on. It is the most well-preserved revolutionary relics in the western Hubei. The tourism items in the scenic spot mainly include four parts, “Revolutionary Tour”, ecological leisure tour, Qingjiang “Small Three Gorges” sightseeing tour and the Bengjianzi old-growth forest expedition.
