Huang Xiang

Huang Xiang (1904-1990), a famous photographer, was born in Changyang, Yichang City. He was once a lieutenant general commander of the Kuomintang army. By the end of 1948, he broke away from the former together and joined the PLA with his subordinate troops in the Beiping-Tianjin Campaign. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he has been successively the member of the second to the fifth CPPCC National Committee, the member of the Standing Committee of the sixth CPPCC National Committee, and vice chairman of the China Photographers Association.

Huang Xiang won the Gold Medal in the Romania International Pictures Exhibition with the photo named “Mt. Huangshan after Rain” and the Gold Medal in the Pakistan International Photography Exhibition with the photo named “Fishing Song of Lijinag River” respectively. In 1980, he went back to his hometown Changyang where he had been absent for more than 50 years and took many excellent pictures, such as “Tianzhu Mountain”, “Censer Mountain”, “The Three Gorges”, etc.
