“Sai Ye Er He”is a funeral dance of Tujia living along the middle reach of the Qingjiang River in Hubei.
It is a unique funeral ceremony: before the coffin of the dead put in the hall, folks from near and afar gather together, with men singing and dancing, and women dressed in bright costumes cheering all night long. In their view, a person’s life and death areas natural as the changing of seasons. The death of an old man is in conformity with the laws of nature, which is worth celebrating.
