Yuan’an is famous for its production of "ya silk" from the Spring and Autumn Period(770 BC - 221 BC). The history of its temple fair of Ancestor Lei can be traced back to more than 900 years. In its Hehua Town and those neighboring townships and counties, on the 15th, March of the lunar calendar, the birthday of ancestor Lei, people will come to the temple fair every year to worship her as the silkworm goddess. The sacrificial offerings are mainly silk products and tools for picking mulberries and making silkworm. And the main rites and second-rate rites are mainly silkworm women, and the sub-rites are children, different from other customary rituals. In addition to worship ceremony, there are also folk entertainment and material exchange activities.
