The temple fair at Guan Yu’s tomb in Dangyang City,alarge-scale folk event with the main activity being worshiping Guan Yu,is held at the tomb of Guan Yu in Dangyang City, Hubei Province every spring or autumn. The activities include the worship ritual for Guan Yu, performances of his killing in Dangyang, folk entertainment, believers vowing and paying, and exchange of private materials (also known as temple market") and so on. The fair may last one or two days, but can be as long as four to five days. The local people are the mainstay of the temple fair, while believers from neighboring counties and cities and other provinces come here too.

　　The temple fair has preserved public beliefs and folk culture with beliefs in Guan Yuas the core, along with many folk art activities. It is usually celebrated as grand and solemn festival, with people consort with each other in harmony and share the happiness. The fair promotes the virtues of Guan Yu and creates a peaceful atmosphere. After the reform and opening up, many people from Taiwan and Hong Kong,overseas Chinese and his believers will come here in groups to commemorate Guan Yu every year. Their worship of Guan Yu is extremely pious and touching.
