Yichang weeding gongs and drums, atypical representative of weeding gongs and drums in western Hubei, has a history of more than one thousand years, which represents as playing drums and singing when weeding. It is mainly used to inspire workers’ spirit and improve weeding efficacy in the field, known as "a drum can urge three workers". And it is distributed in Changyang County, Wufeng County, Zigui County, Xingshan County, Yiling district, Yidu and other places. So weeding gongs and drums are differ from areas, like Changyang’s nine sounds and thirteen divertimento, Yiling’s Hualuogu Drum Performance and Xingshan’s special three-tone songs. With the regard to vocal, it has both general tone and characteristic tone; from the perspective of genre, there are both Banqiang style and ballad; in terms of the subject, it is singing everything. Changyang folk song is Changyang weeding gongs and drums, which is singing in high-pitched tune and belongs to Gaoqiang drums. In 2009, Wang Aimin was awarded the title of national successor by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
