Founded in 1953,Yichang Maternity and Child Health Care and Family Planning Service Center was incorporated into the series of teaching hospitals of China Three Gorges University in October 2014, officially named Clinical Medical College for Women and Children of China Three Gorges University. In September 2013, it was also nominated as Yichang Children's Hospital. According to the No. [2014]88 Document of Yichang,it was renamed asYichang Maternity and Child Health Care and Family Planning Service Center on August 11, 2014.

　　Over the past 60 years, thanks to the devotion of generations of its staff, the hospital has developed into an excellentthird-class maternityand child health care hospital concentrating onwomen and children's medical treatment, maternity and child health care, family planning services and teaching and scientific research.

　　At present, the hospital is taking the responsibility of the public health work of maternity and child health management, such as training, guidance and work assessment of maternity and child health care and family planning service technology in the city. Additionally, it serves as a specialized clinical hospital for women and children.

　　The hospital has been designated as a leading center for prenatal diagnosis, neonatal disease screening, critical pregnant and parturient women as well as the new-born emergency treatment,birth defect prevention and management, cervical cancer prevention and management of Yichang cityby the Health Commissionof Hubei Province. Besides, it has been functioned as “National Clinical Teaching and Training Hospital”,“Coordinated Base of The First People’s Hospital of Yichang”, one of the first batch of “The baby-care hospital” in Yichang, “Early Childhood Development Demonstration Base” (provincial-level),“A Designated Rehabilitation Training and Relief Institution for Children with Cerebral Palsy”in Hubei Province.
