Enrique Penalosa, former mayor of Bogata (capital of Colombian), a thinker in urban construction, visited Yichang together with his fellows on Sept 17. Both two sides exchanged ideas on urban construction and held a seminar. The representative of the municipal government Zhao Boyan, delegates from Urban Construction and Investment Company, Development and Reform Commission, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and Construction Commission of Yichang all attended the seminar.

　　Zhao presented a famous silk scroll writing Yichang’s beauty poem as a gift to Enrique Penalosa for his constructive suggestions regarding urban construction.

　　Enrique Penalosa showed great interest in Yichang’s development. In the seminar, he mentioned that Yichang has potential development on resource regarding the right of road. Yichang could avoid many negative effects such as heavy traffic pressure, low urban living quality and other problems existing in developed countries, as it develops BRT and bike lane to improve traffic system. With a good preliminary planning, Yichang municipal government is determined to plan the best traffic system and makes Yichang a comfortable city in advance of other cities in the 21st century.
