The delegation led by Mr. Rodrigo Maia, Transportation Commission in Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies, paid a visit to Yichang City on November 19th. Zhang Jianyi, Executive Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Municipal People’s Congress, coupled with Wang Hongqiang, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress, met with them.

　　Mr. Zhang gave a detailed introduction to Yichang’s economic and social development and its great achievement of infrastructure in railway, highway, river port, etc. He said that Yichang and Brazil shared so many similarities, for both the Three Gorges Dam and the Itaipu Dam, the world’s largest dam and the second largest one, were located in Yichang and Brazil respectively. In addition, the exchanges and interaction between both sides became increasingly frequent and productive in recent years, which not only built up mutual understanding and feelings between both peoples, but promoted the win-win cooperation in such fields as economy, society and culture. He hoped that with the help of Mr. Rodrigo Maia, Yichang Government and Brazil Government could further both sides’ cooperation and communication by means of this visit.

　　Mr. Rodrigo Maia thought highly of Yichang’s accomplishment in economic and social development and expressed that he would make an effort to keep further bilateral ties, strengthen cooperation with Yichang Government in related fields, and make his own contribution to the Yichang’s megacity dream.
