On November 23, a delegation of African traditional leaders from Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania and Malawi visited Yichang, and Zhang Jianyi, Secretary of the Leading Party Group of the Standing Committee Yichang Municipal People’s Congress and Executive Deputy Director, met the delegates.

　　Zhang extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the basic information of the city’s social and economic development to the guests. Yichang, with splendid and gorgeous scenery, is the largest hydroelectric energy base in the world and the birthplace of Bachu culture. Yichang takes advantages of convenient transportation with modern airport, railway, highway and water transport and harbor, and it is an important transportation junction connecting the cities and regions of the east and west of China. Accelerating the construction of a modern megalopolis at present, Yichang is a land of treasure where is appropriate for living, business and travel.

　　Zhang also said that the distance makes Yichang and Africa far apart, but both sides keep close relation. Since the 1960s, more than 200 doctors were sent to Africa to join the medical team. In addition, chemical products of Xingfa Group and Yihua Group and the canned food of Diyuan Corporation and Zeyuan Corporation also find a good sale in Africa.
