He said, as the location of the Three Gorges Project, Yichang was both the second central city in Hubei province and the regional central city in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and its comprehensive strength leaped to the 55th place among top 100 cities in China, and ranked the 2nd place in Hubei province. Since the Reform and Opening up, especially the start construction of the Three Gorges Project, in addition that hundreds of heads of the foreign state and government, leaders of the political party and others have made a official visit in Yichang one after another, Yichang has also built up friendly relationships with 11 cities of 10 countries, and a batch of outstanding enterprises like Angel Yeast have investigated among all over the world to promote business. At present, some related officials of Yichang have been seizing national strategic opportunities such as “One Belt, One Road”, etc., and expanding communications of economy, trade and humanity between Yichang and all over the world. In order to offer advice and stratagems for the promotion of new-round and high-level policy of opening to the outside world in Yichang, he expected that these diplomats could conduct a site visit in Yichang frequently and propagandize developments and advantages of Yichang to make Yichang move towards the world and known to the world.
Cui Qiming said in his speech that possessing wonderful mountains, clear water and well-developed environment, Yichang, enjoying profound historical and cultural details and remarkable achievements in economical and social developments, deserved to be called “the heart of the driving force in China, the capital of hydroelectricity in the world”. He indicated that the foreign diplomatic delegation would make full use of diplomatic resources and endeavor to bring Yichang into contact with all over the world, which could help people to further expand the level of opening to the outside world in Yichang and enhance the economy and trade cooperation and cultural communications with various countries in the world.
