On June 26, Yuan Weidong, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Committee of Political Science and Law, met with a delegation of Syrian Arab Baath Socialist Party cadres in the urban area of Yichang,and held a discussion and exchange with Mohamed Sheritaha,the head of the delegation, member of the Central Committee of the Baath Party and Secretary of the Latakia Provincial Party Committee, Mohamed Sheritaha.
On behalf of the Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government, Yuan Weidong welcomed the delegation. He said that Yichang was the location of the Three Gorges Project and Gezhouba Project, the vice-central city of Hubei Province and the world famous hydroelectric tourism city as well as the first civilized city and national health city in Hubei province. At present, we were guided by Xi Jinping's socialist thought with Chinese characteristics in the new era,would never forget our original intention and bear our mission in mind, always taking the people's yearning for a better life as the goal of struggle, and striving to protect and develop the whole country. Wewould push forward the fight against poverty, build a well-off society in an all-round way, and accelerate the construction of a regional central city in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River,striving to write a new chapter of high-quality development. As one of the earliest cities in the Yangtze River hinterland, Yichang was deeply integrating into the "Belt and Road initiative", so both sides would have great exchanges and cooperation in many fields.
Muhammad Sheritaha highly praised the achievements of Yichang in economic and social development. He said that China's achievements in reform and opening up, and modernization were amazing. In Yichang, they felt the happy life of the people and saw the tremendous changes by the rapid development of Yichang's economy.
