On May 23, the “Foreign Experts’ Book Houses” inaugurating ceremony of Yichang City was held at China Three Gorges University (CTGU). Yichang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau awarded the plaques to both CTGU and Hubei Three Gorges Talent Group Co., Ltd.

　　The establishment of “Foreign Experts’ Book Houses” is a national project approved by the Foreign Talent Research Center, Ministry of Science and Technology, under the guidance of the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee. It aims to provide convenient and free reading and borrowing services for foreign experts, international friends and students in China. With strong support from the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Department, the first “Foreign Experts’ Book House” in Hubei Province was set up at the Three Gorges International Talent City. It was followed by the setting up of the second one at CTGU, which now houses nearly 4,300 volumes in foreign languages.

　　At present, both book houses have implemented free lending services for foreign experts, international friends, and overseas students after a trial run. The book houses have offered a gateway for them to understanding China in general and Yichang in particular, and also a platform for them to exchange ideas and forge connections.
