Large-scale documentary on Yichang culture broadcast on CCTV

  With the Dragon Boat Festival approaching, the rich customs, history and culture of Yichang were presented on the CCTV screen once more. On the evening of May 20, the 6-episode large-scale humanistic documentary Dragon Boat premiered on the Science and Education Channel of CCTV (CCTV-10), one episode per night, leading billions of viewers to wander through the millennium-old historical time and space. From a unique and fresh perspective, the documentary observes the colourful culture of dragon boats, showcasing its profound humanistic spirit through analogies, associations and other expressions.

  The first episode of Dragon Boat aired on the 20th starts with the migration of Chinese sturgeons and traces the origin of folk culture such as dragon totems, the evolution of dragon boats, and the development of the Dragon Boat Festival. The documentary, shot at multiple locations in the UK, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Middle East, Japan and South Korea, consists of six 30-minute episodes, telling the “Chinese stories in an international way” that features the legendary journey of dragon boats from a multidimensional perspective of human civilization, historical context, sports development, and cultural customs.
