Yichang’s first automated exported tea packaging line established
2024-07-09 08:46:00

On July 6, the reporter visited the commercialization workshop of the Xiaoshi Tea Industry of the Yichang Tea Group under the Angel Group, and observed the streamlined process in the automated packaging production line, where tea products were dispensed into packages of 25g, 100g and 200/250g to meet market demands. Designed and established by the Yichang Tea Group, the automated production line serves as the first of its kind in Yichang, dedicated to tea blending and small-size packaging for export.

Yichang as the second largest tea-producing region in Hubei Province has seen its annual tea exports exceed 60,000 tons in recent years, accounting for about 18% of the total national tea export. However, an enterprise capable of blending and small-size packaging for export has long been demanded in Yichang.

Based on the global network of the Angel Group, the Yichang Tea Group has seen a steady rise in direct export orders since its establishment last year. To strengthen the export tea supply chain, ensure stable product quality and timely supply, and enhance export tea competitiveness, the Xiaoshi Tea Industry as its subsidiary company initiated the project of establishing the automated production line in December 2023 with an annual packaging capacity of 3,000 tons of tea. In addition to catering to its own export products, the production line also offers OEM services to local and domestic tea exporters. The completion and operation of this project have bridged the gaps in tea blending and packaging for exports, resulting in a 30% increase in delivery efficiency. It has propelled Yichang’s export tea industry towards a comprehensive closed loop system, encompassing preliminary processing, refining, blending, small packaging, and exportation.

Since June, orders for export tea have flooded in, and the export tea blending and small-size packaging production line has been operating at full capacity since its establishment. Currently, the Yichang Tea Group has secured orders from various countries and regions, including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. (Reporter/Jie Xingwei, Correspondent/Huang Haiyue)
