On October 21, sweet potatoes were being processed as pet food for export to Japan, South Korea and Europe at the Zhicheng Biological Technology Co., Ltd. workshop in Dangyang, Yichang, through a process including peeling, cutting into strips, soaking, steaming, saccharifying, and drying.

　　As Yichang’s only producer of sweet potato pet food, the company produces 4,000 kg of finished products daily. This year, it plans to purchase over 7,000 tons of fresh sweet potatoes,all for export, with an estimatedoutput value of 40 million yuan. Orders are already booked through January next year. Yichang’s sweet potatoes, known for their consistent quality, have successfully penetrated the global pet food market, demonstrating the international competitiveness of China’s deep-processed agricultural products.
