On November 20, according to the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, an advanced live transport technology for sturgeon was included in the first batch of “Belt and Road Initiative Advanced Science and Technology Achievements for Poverty Reduction.” The technology was jointly developed by the preservation and storage team of the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System and Hubei Qingjiang Sturgeon Valley Technology Co Ltd.
The list was released by the China Rural Technology Development Center at the second Belt and Road Initiative Conference on Science and Technology Exchange. It features five aquaculture-related technologies.
This sturgeon transport technology covers key procedures, including capture, temporary holding, sedation, packaging, loading, transportation and recovery. It has completed the full R&D and application cycle, from lab-scale trials and pilot testing by the researchers to joint demonstration with the enterprise, and has now reached technological maturity.
