On December 22, the China-FAO South-South Cooperation assistance program in Namibia supported by Wang Qiantao, a plant protection expert from the Yichang Agricultural Technology Extension Center, was recognized as one of the Sixth Global Best Poverty Reduction Practices. In September 2024, Wang and 14 other Chinese agricultural specialists traveled to Namibia to provide training in phytosanitary measures, locust control, composting techniques and water-saving irrigation. Their work benefited nearly 200 local farmers and enhanced regional agricultural productivity. The case was selected through a global call for best poverty reduction practices, co-organized by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and six other international organizations, to identify sustainable and replicable approaches to poverty alleviation worldwide.
