A few days ago, Hubei Provincial Government officially wrote the letter to the Ministry of Science and Technology to support Yichang to start building National Innovation-based Experimental City, which means that Yichang has officially started applying the project of building the National Innovation-based Experimental City.

Innovation-based city is a kind of city that has strong innovation ability, outstanding functions on scientific supporting and leading, high-level of sustainable economic and social development, and takes significant regional radiation leading role. The aim of building the national innovation-based city is to fundamentally change the mode of development by putting the independent innovation as the leading strategy of a city to improve the quality and benefits of economy development. The Provincial Government affirmed our innovation foundation, characteristics, advantages for building and our next development aims, tasks and approaches. Considering that Yichang meets the needs of “the Notice of Relevant Matters on Applying the Project of Building National Innovation-based City”, the Provincial Government recommended Yichang as the National Innovation-based Experimental City. It is said that after the national innovation-based experimental cities are selected, the Ministry of Science and Technology would fund major projects, construct the main innovation base, and would support on multi-level sources and policy of creating innovative policy environment, training and introducing outstanding talent, strengthening international cooperation in science and technology.
