Hanyi High-speed Railway Opened to Traffic and Yichang First Launched EMUs
2012-07-06 16:27:26

At 7:30 am on July 1, D5854 EMU bound to Wuhan started out from Yichang East Railway Station, which announced that Hanyi (Wuhan to Yichang) High-speed Railway officially opened to traffic. Since then, 26 pairs of EMUs, 5 pairs of normal speed trains, a total of 31 pairs of trains will be running on the Hanyi High-speed Railway.

Among the 26 pairs of EMUs, with a top speed of 200 km/h, the fastest one can cover the whole distance within only 99 minutes. The opening of Hanyi High-speed Railway makes the travel from Wuhan to Sichuan faster, and the personnel flow, material flow, information flow of the Jianghan Plain to the North, East, South, West China and the Central Plains faster and more convenient, greatly reducing the temporal and spatial distance.
It is informed that every day there are EMUs from Yichang East Railway Station bound for Wuchang, Hankou, and Wuhan stations. The first train D 5854/1 starts out from Yichang East Railway Station at 7:30 am, arrives at Wuhan at 10:14am; the latest one D5832, leaves Yichang at 21:45pm and reaches Hankou at 23:45pm.

The development of this EMU program will ease the pressure on the city buses and provide convenience for passengers to transfer to other trains.
