Four years ago, the technology of BISS (Building Integrated Solar System) was introduced into Yichang and Shijiyangguang Residential District became the first residential district installed with BISS. In the past years, the system proved its economic and energy-saving effect.

　　It is known that all the buildings of Shijiyangguang Residential District have been installed with time-and-temperature-fixed hot water supplying system; the solar energy collecting panels have a total surface of 1,600m2, which is adequately effective for a constructional surface of 70,000 m2. The system can supply 128 metric tons of hot water every day to meet 2,100 people’s daily demand.

　　As introduced by an expert from the municipal department of energy conservation supervision, BISS integrates utilization of solar energy and construction of buildings and integration of the solar energy utilizing equipment and buildings based on synchronous designing, construction and management can generally reduce largely the cost of redundant construction and damage of the holistic frame of buildings caused by post-construction installation of energy-saving facilities. At present, BISS is mainly employed in construction of high or higher residential buildings or constructions for business or public use.

　　According to the introduction by the property management staff, hot water is supplied in three fixed periods from morning till evening in the residential district. The water temperature is about 70℃in summer and 40℃ to 50℃ in autumn, and in 220 days of a year hot water can be effectively supplied.

　　4 years has witnessed the high energy-saving efficiency of BISS. Mr. Qin Hongjun, chief of property management of Shijiyangguang Residential District mentioned, more than 2,100 people of 695 families need about 80 metric tons of hot water every day, according to the lower cost of solar energy, every year (220 days) over 200 thousand RMB can be saved.

　　According to the statistic, in the past three years in Yichang, BISS has been employed widely on residential buildings and hotel constructions, exactly, 86 buildings completed or under construction have installed BISS, with a total constructional surface of 2.5 million m2——equivalent to the surface of 25,000 civil apartments, as has contributed greatly to the constructional energy-saving project.
