The wounded common sucker

  On Monday, the staff of Municipal Fishery Administrative Office acknowledged that the 16kg wounded common sucker nearly recovered and was expected to obtain the ability of reproduction. On August 29, a fisherman named Wang Huifu caught it while fishing in Gezhouba section of the Yangtze River.

  It as told that the common sucker was in a shock after being caught due to the disease in its pectoral fin and was been sent to the Chinese Sturgeon Aid Center located in Aijia Town of Dianjun District, the experts provided an emergency rescue and removed the 200-gram tumor in the fin. Taken good care of by the experts, it nearly recovered and was expected to restore completely in late September.

  Lu Lin, an expert from the Chinese Sturgeon Aid Center, introduced that the common sucker is a large-sized maternal fish with many eggs in its body; and according to its state, it is expected to reproduce in next March and April and a common sucker of its weight can lay 200,000 to 300,000 eggs every time.
