NDRC has accepted the request transmitted by the Development and Reform Commission of Hubei Province that construction of several bridges across the Yangtze River in Yichang section be taken into planning of the state projects. Four bridges will be constructed in Yichang as supplementary projects integrated into the state planning.

　　It is acknowledged that the four planned bridges include Baiyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge and Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge in urban areas, Bailizhou Yangtze River Bridge in Zhijiang County and Honghuatao Yangtze River Bridge in Yidu County respectively. At the same time, Xiangxi Yangtze River Bridge Project in Zigui County has been taken into the approval procedure of state projects by NDRC and it is hopeful for the project to be approved soon.

　　It is understood that, with the development of the city, the bridges in Yichang can not meet the need of the situation of the development. Shortage of bridges has constrained the economic and social development of some areas along the Yangtze River on both sides, and improvement of the comprehensive transportation network has also been affected.

　　To implement the strategic disposition of constructing Yichang into an extra-large-sized city proposed by the provincial committee and government, the Municipal Development and Reform Commission through deliberate investigation and approval made great efforts to apply for integration of the four bridges across the Yangtze River into planning of the state projects according the designing.

　　As known, the feasibility survey report on the project of Baiyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge in Yichang has been approved by the Development and Reform Commission of Hubei Province and is still in approval by NDRC. Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge connects with the Three Gorges Project Highway. The preliminary construction of this project has been started, and the preliminary feasibility report is in formation. Bailizhou Yangtze River Bridge in Zhijiang, linking Jinshan Avenue of Majiadian Town on the north with Baimasi village in Baili town on the south, has been listed into the Yangtze River Economic Development Overall Plan of Hubei Province （2009-2020）, at present in preparatory procedure. Honghuatao Yangtze River Bridge is located in Honghua Town of Yidu County, and its preliminary construction has been started.
