PM2.5 Monitoring Available in Yichang

It is learned that the Auto Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station under Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau has equipped the first CO monitoring instrument on October 9 and the apparatus testing has finished. At present, this station is able to monitor PM2.5, O3(ozone) and CO with accurate report of the indexes, as the new National Ambient Air Quality Standard requires. It marks the completion and testing operation of the first new AAQMS in Yichang.

Since the release of the new NAAQS in February 2012, the municipal government has attached great importance to improvement of ambient air quality detecting to meet the requirements by the new standards and the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and the Environment Protection Monitoring Station have sent groups of officials and experts to Jiangsu, Shanghai, Wuhan and so on to make on-the-spot inspection and survey and then worked out the plan of monitoring ability improvement meeting the new NAAQS, which was later first practiced in the Environment Protection Monitoring Station under Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau.

Up to now, the station has, after purchasing and installed the apparatus, been in operation in accordance with the new NAAQS. In the near future, reporter has learned, the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau will start to upgrade all the data platforms of ambient air quality monitoring system in the city and connect the system with provincial network with monitoring indexes of PM2.5 publicized at the proper time.
