Reporter learnt from Changyang Water Conservancy and Hydropower Bureau that the Qingjiang River Water Conservancy Scenic Spot was awarded the title of "National Scenic Spot of Water Conservancy".

From October 1st to 2nd, the awarding ceremony in Putian City, Fujian Province hosted by The Ministry of Water Resources, witnessed the birth of the twelfth batch of National Scenic Spots of Water Conservancy in the Conference of National Scenic Spots of Water Conservancy for Construction and Management. 43 scenic spots all over the country were awarded the title, including Qingjiang River Water Conservancy Scenic Spot, the first national one ever in Yichang City as well as the only one this time in Hubei Province.

Backed by Geheyan Hydropower Project, Qingjiang River Scenic Spot of Changyang County is endowed with rich natural resources and boasts of its unique Batu Culture (a culture originated in Qinjiang River valley in Yichang City in the late primitive society, dating back to 4000 years ago)。 Besides, it is well-developed in the layout of scenic spots, infrastructure, and management system. The title is significant for the “Gallery of Qingjiang”, for it will facilitate its being approved as a 5A-class scenic spot and being funded for construction of the national project of water conservancy in future, as well as the protection of water resources.
