Famous Croatian pianist Bruno Vlahek was concentrating on his performance on the evening of November 13.
Yichang Theater is packed with audience on the evening of November 13 for performance by the famous Croatian pianist Bruno Vlahek at the first concert of “the 2nd Yichang Yangtze River Piano Music Festival”。
The concert started with Vlahek’s successive performance of Bach’s “Toccata in D Major,BWV912” , Mozart “Piano Sonata No. 11”, Liszt’s “Spanish Rhapsody”, Debussy’s “Clare de Lune” and so on, which elicited constant applause by the audience. Particularly, Bruno Vlahek also played a classical Chinese folk tune entitled “Glowing Red Morningstar Lilies” and “Pag Impression” adapted by himself on the basis of the traditional songs of Croatian island Pag, as demonstrated a harmonious combination of Chinese and western classicality and romance. After finishing playing the fantasia “The Marriage of Figaro” by Liszt, the pianist had to play some repertoires including “Chopin Etudes” so as to fulfill the demand by the audience’s enthusiastic applause for an additional performance.
Bruno Vlahek is a versatile young artist whose emerging international career is successfully divided between performing and composing. He was born in 1986 in Zagreb (Croatia) and received his first musical education at the age of 9. Just two years later, he already won the 1st prize at the Pinerolo International Piano Competition in Italy and became subsequently a two-time absolute winner at his native country\'s national competitions, held in Dubrovnik in 2001.
Vlahek was frequently awarded 1st prizes at the international piano performance competitions. Besides, in 2011, he won both the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe\'s Award in Madrid and the Pnina Salzman Memorial Award at the Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes in Israel, and received an award for the best piano student from the hands of Her Majesty Queen Sofía of Spain.
