Dressed in light clothing，citizens are seen busy exercising on treadmills and waist twisting machines, together with a group of people upstairs at yoga room, enjoying the workout under the instructor’s guidance… It is the scene that catches the sight of members of Standing Committee of Yichang People\'s Congress when they were conducting a special on-the-spot inspection of “urban public sports facilities construction” on November 12.

　　It was learned that, in recent years, in order to meet residents’ increasing need for fitness, the municipal government has been committed to speed up the construction of mass sports sites. So far, 60% of the residential communities by real estate developers and 57.6% of the governmentally funded subsidized housing and resettlement communities have been equipped with fitness facilities, in which comprehensive fitness equipment constitutes the majority of the facilities in all the newly-built residential estates

　　Official statistics also show that about 500,000 citizens regularly participate in sports activities in the urban areas. In the future, the facilities of urban public sports will focus on construction of sports centers and Olympic Sports Center to provide the venues for public fitness and reserved sports talents.
