New Driving Test Centre in Yidu to Come into Service
2012-12-30 18:37:22 市政府办公室

New driving test centre of Yichang located at Honghuatao Town, Yidu County is under intense construction, which is due next June. As the largest driving testing place in western Hubei, it will offer drivers with full-range service from register, training, testing to license issuing with the capacity of over 100 thousand testers.

According to Luo Jincheng, the chief of Yichang Vehicle Management Station, with a budget of 180 million RMB for the first-phase construction investment, it will cover an area of more than 500 mu (33.33 hectares), consisting of a comprehensive service centre and two testing places, one for small vehicles, and the other large vehicles. The testing place of small vehicles for subject two is divided into 6 sections with two testing tracks in each section, in which every track can hold 12 testers at the same time, whereas that of large vehicles for subject two is divided into 2 sections with 3 testing tracks in each section, in which every track can hold 6 testers simultaneously. To ensure that every driver can adjust to the testing place, certain tracks in certain hours are available to testers for warming-up.

It has been estimated that the capacity for testing will be doubled. As for the test place for subject two, it usually takes a tester of small vehicle ten minutes or that of large vehicle thirty minutes to complete the test. The new driving test centre can hold tests for over 600 testers while the current testing capacity is 300 testers per day. And as expected, it will be able to receive about 100 thousand testers of small vehicles annually, while the current annual capacity is no more than 70 thousand in our city, with only 50 thousand who pass the test. So it is beyond doubt that it can greatly reduce the stress.

New test items will be added next year for both small and large vehicles and operating accuracy and practical driving skills will be emphasized. But what are the new test items? How is the testing field designed in the new driving test centre? To answer questions like these, the reporter interviewed relevant persons in charge yesterday at Yichang Vehicle Administrative Office.

It is learned that the driving test of small vehicles for subject two is composed of five parts no matter in training or test, namely reverse stall parking, ramp fixed point parking and starting, side parking, curve driving and quarter turn. The biggest change is that the surveyor’s poles have been replaced by traffic marks.

According to the new rule, the driving test of large and medium-sized vans like buses and trucks for subject two newly adds 5 items(narrow road turn, simulation highway, continued sharp turns on mountain road, tunnel, wet slippery road on rainy or foggy conditions and emergency operation), apart from the previous 11 testing items( yard driving, ramp fixed point parking and starting, side parking, passing unilateral bridge, curve driving, quarter turn, cross limited-width door, passing continuous obstacles, uneven road driving and reverse stall parking); For subject three, testing for complex road conditions such as mountain road, tunnel, abrupt slope is included and the mileage of driving test for small and medium-sized passenger cars should not be less than 20 kilometers, and for tractors and big freight vehicles not less than 10 kilometers as the new rule stipulates.
