Reporters yesterday learnt from the Land and Resources Bureau of Yichang city that the “Mine Recovery” campaign is orderly launched in our city, and the government plans to use three years to regreen the mines in the visual range of “Three Areas and Two Lines”.
The government has determined to put 27 open-air mines in the “Three Areas and Two Lines” into the action on the basis of preliminary investigation, which covers an area of about 345.93 hectares. The whole project will cost 30.9305 million RMB, and supervision archives have been established. At the same time, based on the principle “who destroys who restores”, the main body responsible of management of 11 mines has been identified as mine enterprises for annual implementation of management under the supervision of land and resources departments at county level. The government will be the main body responsible of management for 13 mines including close-down ones, abandoned ones and policy-based closed ones which have resulted in historical issues, or destroyed or unknown responsible main body. In addition, the government and mine enterprises will be responsible for the remaining three mines.
According to the introduction, the overall objective of the action is that the prominent geological environment problems in the surroundings of “Three Areas and Two Lines” will be renovated, and potential dangers of the mine geological environment will be eliminated, so that the ecological environment of the mines will be preliminary improved by the end of 2015.
“Three Areas and Two Lines” refers to surroundings of important nature reserves, scenic areas and residential areas, and traffic thoroughfares and important visual range along rivers and lakes.
