As the New Year holiday is coming, quite a few citizens are asking about whether driving on highways will be free during the holiday and some citizens intend to drive out, for they think it will be toll-free. However, yesterday, from Hubei Traffic Police Corps, the reporter learned that the 3-day holiday does not belong to toll-free days stipulated by the State Council and the small passenger cars will still be charged toll.
According to the holiday arrangement of 2013, there will be 29 days holiday next year. Many citizens mistakenly think during all those days they can drive on the highways without toll. But the reporter learned that the free-toll days are Spring Festival, Tomb-sweeping Day, Labor Day and National Day and their corresponding off days stipulated in the document issued by the General Office of State Council. Other statutory holidays, such as Mid-autumn Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and New Year Day are not included in the free-toll days. In addition, passenger cars with more than 7 seats are not entitled to the toll-free policy.
It is analyzed that because Mid-autumn Festival is close to National Day, New Year Day is close to Spring Festival, and traffic is always light during the Dragon Boat Festival because of busy farming season and college entrance examination, the relevant authorities provide the rest 4 holidays as the free-toll days.
Based on the holiday arrangement of 2013 announced recently, the reporter found that the 7-day Spring Festival (00:00,Feb.9- 24:00,Feb.15, 2013 ), the 3-day Tomb-sweeping Day(00:00, Apr.4- 24:00, Apr.6), the 3-day Labor Day(00:00,Apr.29-24:00,May.1) and the 7-day National Day(00:00, Oct.1- 24:00, Oct.7 ) are the free-toll days amounted to 20 days, while during the other holydays small passenger cars still need toll.
Therefore, the earliest free-toll day of next year is Spring Festival, and people who intend to drive out this New Year holiday should prepare the toll.
