On December 24, Three Gorges Navigation Administration Bureau completed the project of setting up optical fiber cable crossing the Yangtze River successfully in Pingshanba Village located between the Three Gorges Dam and the Gezhouba Dam, which symbolizes completion of the framework of optical fiber cable project of integrated navigation information system construction in the TGP region and improvement of informationalization of navigation administration in this region.

　　The construction sites lie on two mountains of both sides of the Yangtze River in Pingshanba section between the Three Gorges Dam and the Gezhouba Dam. The cable of some 1,300 meters hangs 120 meters above the surface of the water; and the most advanced optical fiber cable of over RMB 100 thousand was employed in this project, which challenges the most as one of the three Yangtze-crossing optical fiber cable projects as well as an important part of the looped optical fiber cable network to protect routing, expand the network coverage and improve the security supervision and management of regional communication network.

　　In the follow-up procedure the optical fiber cable will be welded and tested in the future, after which the lateral system will be replaced by the looped network system to improve the anti-risk ability and security of navigation communication system in the region.
