600 Couples of Newlyweds Registered on “True Love Day”
2013-01-14 18:18:35 市政府办公室

As for untold young people to plan to get married, it goes without saying that January 4 of 2013 should be a once-in-life-time red-letter day—a day sounds like “to love you till the end of life” in Chinese mandarin—which arouses considerable hope to millions of would-be newly married. No wonder that a large group of young men and women did not want to miss this auspicious day and chose to get married yesterday, which gave rise to a marriage boom.

It is learned from Wedding Registration Office in Wujiagang District Bureau of Civil Affairs that more than 180 couples have conducted their marriage by the end of 4 o’clock pm yesterday.

You can imagine the scene full of hustle and bustle on that very day: surely newlyweds are busy, but never forget the staff of the Registration Office working on our behalf for they get even busier than usual. According to Mr. Wang, the deputy director of Xiling District Bureau of Civil Affairs, there were 401 couples getting registered yesterday, over ten times more than that of ordinary days. It has broken the record set on September 9 of 2009 with 273 couples registered in one day. In order to seize the so-called “auspicious hour”, numerous couples of bride and groom had been waiting in long patient queues as early as 5 o’clock outside the Register Office yesterday.
