An American Challenges Yichang Ping-pong Players

Yesterday, in Yichang Forum the reporter noticed a post say that an American named Scott challenges master-hand ping-pong players in Yichang to compete and learn from each other by exchanging views. Through the internet, the reporter got in touch with Scott and met him in Wanda Community.

Scott has already stayed in China for eight years. He can speak Chinese fluently, play the exotic saxophone and teaches Chinese to learn English. Above all, he likes playing ping-pong the most. When asked why he posts this message, he said: “When I was 7 or 8 years old, I saw this game in my neighbor’s garage. From then on, I was deeply fascinated with it and always play ping-pong with my parents. It is really great because its ball and bats are easy to take that I can play indoors even it is raining outside.”

Scott\"s colleagues said they were all defeated by him. Scott added, with a chuckle that he enjoys playing ping-pong very much. Every morning he goes to the Youth Palace to play ping-pang, and hopes the master-hand ping-pong players can exchange views with him to promote his skills.

Scott speaks Chinese very well. However, when he first came to China, he got a lot of problems with it and made a fool of himself in the restaurant that he couldn’t distinguish the pronunciation between “soup” and “sugar” in Chinese. It has been the eighth year since Scott came to China. He has set up his own English education institute. He loves Chinese dishes, among them Yichang hot-and-dry noodles and “Tangbao” (a steamed kind of dumplings filled with minced meat and gravy) he likes most, but he dislikes the special stinky flavor tofu.

As far as Yichang is concerned, Scott has much to say. He thinks Yichang is better than the big cities like Beijing and Shanghai, for Yichang has beautiful environment, convenient transportation and human interest between the people. That’s why he is attracted and stays here.
