Forty-eight Nursing Homes to Build in 2013

  According to the Yichang Municipal Government, at least 48 nursing homes will be built in 2013 and no less than 3 of them in each county, district or county-level city. Apart from government-funded nursing homes, the government is also encouraging more private ones to share the burden of old-age care.
  The civil affairs department in Yichang will improve and enhance the service system of community-based old-age care. To meet the demand of different levels such as entertainment, home care or nursing, day care, the system is composed of three levels of service network based on county, district and community, in which the community will serve as the platform providing door-to-door service with the help of information technology.
  Meanwhile, it is the joint working mechanism of departments concerned, in charge of social rescue for homeless people that will be improved. In addition to bringing the street crime under control, preventing the tramps from wandering by exploring the causes of the wandering of the homeless people and taking the right measures to solve them. And some measures, including launching the campaign of “Sending Street Children Back to School”, probing into how to educate and correct the behavior of adolescent wanderers and bringing the relief work for wanderers into the work of the all-round improvement of social security, should be taken into consideration.
