48 Urban Vegetable Markets Ends Reconstruction

It was informed yesterday from a municipal government meeting concerning the standardization reconstruction and further arrangements for the development and management of urban vegetable markets that, three years after initiating the reconstruction,48 vegetable markets with an area of 150,746 m2 in urban area have completed this week and smoothly passed the test.

As early as in April, 2010, it was instructed in the mobilization meetingbymunicipal government onthedevelopment and management of urban vegetable markets that thereconstruction workof urban vegetable marketsshould befinished in three years.Later, a series ofgovernment documentswere promulgated to provide support ranging from policy, construction norms to funds.

Since then, departments concerned have accomplished in succession their tasks of standardization reconstruction of 48 vegetable markets, amid which include 17 newly-built ones such as Huitengyuan, Yishun and Qilichong, etc.; 27 reconstructed ones such as Longkang Road, Sifangyan and Nanyuan and so on; and rectifying and standardizing fourroad markets such as these ones on Shenzhen Road and Wulong Road, etc..

Accordingto the introduction, these 48 vegetable markets are scatteredaroundthe city: 22 in Xiling District, 12 in Wujiagang District, 6 in Dianjun District, 2 in Xiaoting District, 4 in High-tech Zone and 2 in Yiling District. And it costs 210 million RMB to finish the reconstruction work of which over 50 million RMB is from subsidies offered by the Municipal Financial Bureau.

In addition, Yichang Municipal Commerce Bureausucceeded inthebuy-backofHeping Road VegetableMarket with the support of superior departments,achievingthebreakthrough ofsetting up the firststate-ownedvegetablemarket inurban area ofYichang City.Besides,30 fresh food supermarkets were successfullyreconstructed.(Reporter Wang Suzhi)
