21.71 Million RMB Invested against Drought

With less rainfall in Yichang since the last ten-day of June, crops in 38,000 hectares have been affected by drought, and 53 thousand people and 13 thousand livestock have suffered from water shortage. Many counties have affected by drought at present, such as Wufeng, Xingshan, Dangyang, Yidu, Zhijiang, among which Wufeng and Changyang suffer the most.

Municipal Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters initiates level 4 drought control, and sends a working team to drought-stricken areas to alleviate the drought. Up to now, sixty-four thousand people, twenty-eight thousand mechanical equipments and 21.71 million RMB have been put into drought relief. What’s more, 3.69 million kilowatt-hour (kwh) have been used, and water problem of 20.5 thousand people and 2.3 thousand livestock have been solved temporally by many ways, such as water carriage, or water pumping in drought control.
