Recently, it was learnt from the statistic data announced by Provincial Science & Technology Department that in the first half of this year, Yichang Hi-tech Zone continuously kept vigorous development momentum with high speed and high quality, and a number of indicators were in the lead in the whole province, ranking in the forefront in the Provincial Hi-tech Zones.

　　It was showed from the data that in the first half of this year, Yichang Hi-tech Zone achieved gross regional product of 25.6 billion RMB, total industrial output value above designed size of 85 billion RMB, industrial added value of 24 billion RMB and fixed assets investment of 20 billion RMB with year-on-year growth of 11.7 percent, 9.8 percent, 10.9 percent, 25.8 percent respectively, which all ranked the second in the Provincial Hi-tech Zones; the Zone also got high and new technology industry output value of 43 billion RMB and added value of 12.5 billion RMB with year-on-year growth of 7.5 percent and 9.1 percent respectively, ranking the third in the Provincial Hi-tech Zones.

　　In recent years, the development in the Zone keeps increrasing and all main economic indicators maintain an annual average increase of more than 30 percent. In the first half of this year, the contracts of 125 new projects were signed and 28.744 billion RMB were invested in the Zone. After the completion of all the projects, it is predicted that it may achieve annual gross income from sales of 97.55 billion RMB and total tax revenue of 10.119 billion RMB.

　　For four leading industries, such as equipment manufacturing, biological medicine, fine chemical engineering and advanced materials, we will continuously improve the investment environment and service level to introduce big projects, cultivate large enterprises, build large park areas and develop big industries, and meanwhile we should stick to some guiding principles like "Independent innovation, Keeping consideration focused on long-project, Supportting development, Leading to the future" and take the reform and innovation as the motive force, the characteristic industry as the supporting, the constructing projects as the key point, the developing park areas as the mainline and the transformation and upgrading as the target, and also plan in a high starting point, construct in a high standard, input in a high intensity and manage in a high effect to make the Zone a core area of economic development, an experimental site of reform and innovation and a model area of integrating the industry and Yichang City, and gradually build the Zone to be a first-class Hi-tech Zone all over the country.
