On August 21, Yichang Municipal Government issued the news that the Provincial Government approved the Overall Construction Planning of Yichang New District on July 18. The Provincial Government required Yichang Municipal Government and related departments of the Provincial Government to carefully organize and implement it. The planning area of the New District is 220 km2 , including 105 km2 of construction land (60 km2 in the north of the Yangtze River, 45 km2 in the south of the Yangtze River), and 115 km2 of non-construction land such as mountains and rivers.

　　It was also stressed in the reply that Yichang New District construction is of great significance to accelerate the development of modern megacity and promote the coordinate development of the regional economy in Hubei Province. The related departments should deepen the understanding, act in close coordination, make pioneering efforts and firmly implement the plan to accelerate the construction of Yichang New District and achieve sound and fast development.
