Cooperative Makes Villagers to Be Shareholders

On September 12, witnessed by over a thousand farmer-shareholders in Xiabaoping Township of Yiling District in Yichang, Gaoshanyunwu Land Stock Specialized Cooperative of Yichang was formally established and 2,505 shareholding-farmers have changed their roles to shareholders and workers. The cooperative was awarded by Deputy Mayor, Wang Guobin.

It is known that the registered capital of Gaoshanyunwu Land Stock Specialized Cooperative of Yichang is thirty-five million RMB. Tea famers buy a share of tea garden with six thousand RMB per mu and one thousand RMB per share of tea plantation with the pricing of thirty million RMB. Up to now, the cooperative has been the largest land stock specialized farmers cooperative of tea industry in Hubei Province, with a total number of 775 households , 2,505 shareholders, as well as 6,525 mu pooling of land and 26,462 mu forest. Yang Kongping, the Director of Provincial Bureau of Agricultural Economics, said on the spot that the pooling of land as shares and cooperative management opened a new way to the mechanism innovation of rural systems and the development of modern agriculture. The construction of land stock specialized cooperatives contributes to the standardization, scalization and intensification of land circulation, which improves vitality and efficiency of rural land management.
