On September 22, the 19th executive meeting of Yichang Municipal Government was hosted by Mayor Ma Xuming to discuss the items of Opinions on Building Three Gorges Tourism New District and General Plan on the Construction of Yichang Three Gorges Tourism New District.

　　Three Gorges Tourism New District, one of the four biggest platforms in modern megacity construction, takes "Two Dams, Two Islands and One Gorge" as its core area, which means the Three Gorges Area of the Yangtze River will be main axis while the two dams and one gorge will be the core, including Xiba Island, Pinghu Peninsula, Three Gorges Cruise Center, Jiangjiamiao Village of Yiling District, Letianxi, Taipingxi, Sandouping Town and Niuzhaping Village of Dianjun District. The total area covers more than 670 square kilometers.

　　The development goals proposed in the meeting are as follows. By 2016, the number of visitors from home and abroad will reach to 40 million per year, and the integrated tourism income will hit 40 billion RMB, making Yichang a national tourist resort. By 2020, 60 million tourists are expected per year with the integrated income of 60 billion RMB. By 2025, the tourists will strike 80 million per year with the integrated income of 100 billion RMB, we will strive to develop Yichang into an international, modern and unique tourist resort to promote the process of being a national landmark tourist resort city, and eventually the worldwide influential holiday destination.

　　It was suggested in the meeting that the basic path should be in accordance with the thinking of "planning guide, orderly promotion, government leading, market operation, intensifying priorities, project promotion, protection-focused, comprehensive improvement, open cooperation" , which is designed to promote the integration of resources, overall exploitation, innovative development, develop Yichang, a big tourist city, into a tourist brand and speed up the construction of the core city of eco-cultural tourism circle in West Hubei Province and world- renowned hydropower tourist city.

　　It is stressed that the construction of Three Gorges Tourism New District is the objective need of improving the open image, implementing the provincial government\'s development strategy, accelerating the construction process of modern city, and promoting scientific and leap-forward development of Yichang. The development goals of Three Gorges Tourism New District should be always remembered to have a breakthrough development of tourism industry, so as to make the eco-cultural tourism industry become a pillar industry with an output value of 100 billion RMB. Besides,"Two Dams, Two Islands and One Gorge" will be highlighted and projects will be relied on boosting the construction of the New District. Supportive policies, like fiscal, land and financial support, will be implemented to innovate government service system and speed up the construction of Three Gorges Tourism New District.
